He buys from the body shop but why would you when they are now owned by L'Oréal? Everyone knows that they have been testing on animals for years. So I did some research and found this:

Does l'Oreal test in animals??
I want to buy there mascara but I dont like buying animal tested products. I read that they bought the body shop b/c they are stopping animal testing or something like that is that true? I also read that I think it was 1993 they signed some thing for peta saying they werent going to test on animals but everyone keeps saying they still do:/ So now im just really confused can some give me a straight answerw/ evidence to support it ? Thanx for answering:)

Answer:
They don't want to talk about it. They don't want you to know about it. But behind the glossy advertising and famous celebrities, the biggest cosmetics company in the world hides a shameful secret.
Despite knowing the overwhelming public revulsion, L'Oreal continues to use thousands of animals to test upon every year.
L'Oreal does not want to reveal animal testing to their customers, and they certainly don't want to reveal the disgusting range of tests carried out on the animals.
In the name of vanity, animals are subjected to painful and cruel ingredient testing by the industry.
Disgraceful eye irritation tests are conducted by securing rabbits so they are immobile while substances are dropped into their eyes (rabbits are used because they have no tear ducts and therefore cannot relieve the stinging and pain).
Poisoning takes place whereby groups of animals are continually force-fed an ingredient until half of the group die. Other animals have their skin shaved and scraped until super-sensitive, then the ingredient is applied to test skin reaction - making sure that the poor animal cannot scratch or remove the substance.
It is hard to imagine the pain suffered by these defenceless animals. But we all know how sore it can be when we get something in our eye or our skin is scraped - at least we can immediately do something to relieve the pain. Think of what it would be like if we were unable to touch or stop the pain, not just for a minute or two but for hours running into days.
It's simply so disgraceful!
And, we have only briefly mentioned three tests - there are a further six animal tests used by the cosmetics industry.
Thankfully, some countries, such as the UK have banned cosmetic ingredient testing, so L'Oreal had to go elsewhere, such as Japan and America where animal testing is allowed. However, the sale of products developed via animal testing is NOT banned. So, despite overwhelming public disapproval, L'Oreal continues new product development via animal testing - they just hide the fact from everyone.
L'Oreal is the single biggest obstacle to ending cosmetic testing on animals.
Therefore, Naturewatch are now launching a major campaign to boycott all L'Oreal products.
Naturewatch wants a promise from L'Oreal to stop this unacceptable cruelty to animals.
Your support is vitally important and there are a number of ways in which you can really make a difference for the defenceless animals.
Firstly, please write to the UK head of L'Oreal. His name is Tom Viner, please copy this letter and send it to him.
Secondly, Naturewatch have also produced an extensive "Action Pack" that includes all you need to take further action, including details of the Naturewatch Day of Protest against L'Oreal on Saturday 25th November.
With your help of support, we are determined to win this important fight on behalf of the tens of thousands of animals that are killed for vanity products every year.
Please make a donation to help the defenceless animals. Whatever gift you can spare is urgently needed and will be put to immediate use in this campaign to stop L'Oreal testing. The terrible fear, pain and despair that the animals endure in cruel experiment laboratories must end.
With your help, we can win this important battle.
L'Oreal has massive financial power, yet Naturewatch totally relies on your kind support to fund the fight for the imprisoned animals.
Please send your gift for the aniamls - today if you can. Please send all donations to Naturewatch, Freepost, 122 Bath Road, Cheltenham GL53 7BR.
Also, check out the Naturewatch website at www.naturewatch.org
With your support and help we can stop L'Oreal.

so to say it short, yes they do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Source(s):
http://www.liberation-mag.org.uk/loreal2...
exact text

Website where you can read this same article:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080314144114AAHx9wP

IT IS NOT OK FOR BIG CORPORATIONS TO TEST ON ANIMALS

Photo's of animals who have been tested on

this is wrong in every sense of the word...ouch...ouch...OUCH*

ouch*

shakes head, these scientists should be ashamed of themselves*

(((Do your research on companies who test on animals.
I was doing a search on organic and cruelty free products and I found this site which I found was the better sites to buy from. It is called Greenie Goods You can buy from aromatherapy oils to hair care. The prices are ok too! They are an Australian company but they DO ship internationally. You just have to e-mail them for a quote.

I always worry about whether they test on animals and this company does not.

Here is the Q & A on Animal Testing:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Animal Testing

Do you test your products on animals?

None of our products or ingredients was tested on animals during research & testing, or since.

This has been part of our philosophy from the outset, rather than one which has been adopted in recent times to follow the ‘market trend’.

Do any of your products contain animal products or by products?

No. We go to great lengths to use alternatives to the widely-used animal tested ingredients & products. We have even found an alternative source of Vitamin A (naturally occurs in animal & fish liver & commonly used in cosmetics).

We use Vitamin A that has been synthesised from Brown Boronia for use in our skin care range ‘jene’.

We are accredited with CCF (Choose Cruelty Free) on their Preferred Products List.

I have not tried these products but I am excited to buy from them as they sell high quality products. I plan on buying all my cleaning, personal hygiene and aromatherapy oils from them. Sure it will cost more but it is worth it!

The website where you can buy these products from is

http://www.greeniegoods.com.au/

Stop Whaling Caribbean Nations

    <lj:music>dishwasher</lj:music>

Ask Caribbean nations to vote for whales -- not whaling.

Our team is at the International Whaling Commission meeting in Chile this week, holding the line against commercial whaling. Read our daily dispatches here. It's not too late take a stand and help whales today.

The Caribbean is a paradise where people go to relax on beautiful beaches, snorkel and dive, and increasingly, enjoy whale watching excursions. Few Caribbean vacationers have any idea that their island hosts have sold out whales.

While Japan, Iceland and Norway are under fire for their brutal whaling, less well-known is the fact that five Caribbean nations -- Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and St. Lucia -- regularly vote with Japan at the International Whaling Commission in favor of lifting the ban on commercial whaling. The leaders of these countries give in to pressure from their Asian patron even though they themselves do not pursue commercial whaling.

Instead of succumbing to Japanese demands, Caribbean officials must realize that preserving these great animals for whale watching -- not whale hunting -- should be their focus. Increasingly popular, whale watching excursions bring in revenue for local communities -- not just boat captains, but restaurants, hotels and other businesses.

TAKE ACTION
Tell Caribbean leaders that they should follow the example of Dominica, the one island in the region that recently announced it would no longer vote with Japan on this issue. As a potential tourist, please let Dominica’s neighbors know that whale watching, not whaling, is in their best interest as well.

Please remember to tell your friends and family how they can help, too. We need to send a message to these governments that the people of the world are against whaling and will not stand by while they let whales die.
Thank you for all that you do to help animals.

Sincerely,

Andrew Rowan
Chief Executive Officer
Humane Society International

Please go to this website and sign the petition

https://community.hsus.org/campaign/Caribbean_whaling08/idsu76grz7wmnx55?

Thanks

Recently, I have become involved in conservation and I'm a tad bit obsessed by it all. ack ack! I have been browsing the web for sites that list animal cruelty and one's that talk about conservation.

One site I found was www.moonbears.org who are an organization that deal with helping and saving the moon bears in Korean farms where they are cut up so they "humans" can extract bile for humans to eat. They are kept in tiny cages that can fit a dog into it. But they put these defenseless bears into them where they can't even move or stretch out. It is very very very sad.

You can check out the website with all the information and even donate which I have (of course" already donated. Please do check it out and help these wonderful creatures that need our help.

I have also made posters/flyers that I am going to paste up around Perth, Western Australia to get the word out. Looking way too kind and happy!

I was driving from Eagle Bay back to Perth and while I was driving out on Bunbury. Samanth0r was in the car (of course) and she distracting me by the mobile phone wanting me to call my sister while I was driving. I was driving at 100 km in an 80 km zone. At that point I looked back onto the road and I saw two policemen with a hand held camera checking car's. I suddenly stamped my foot on the brake to get the car down to 80 km but I think they got me at 100 km. I'm not sure.. It all happened so quickly.

What annoys me is that the policemen were hiding in the bushes so car drivers weren't aware of their presence until the last moment. I feel that is unfair and unjust. Policemen should let their presence be known or at least have the curtsey to put a sign up in front saying "speed camera ahead" That wasn't even posted!

Another thing that annoys me is that I am getting off my P Plates June 20th, 2008 so I really hope I didn't get caught in Bunbury because at that speed I will probably lose my license and all my demerit points.

Let's hoping I am fine (pray the gods that I am)

I feel they do this for money making more than anything. Not for the safety of the people. Yeah it may come in to is a little but surely it's not 100% for the people!

I am a P Plater and it was double demerits and I don't even know how many I start off with anyway. Does anyone know?

Do you think it is fair and justice that they don't sign "speed camera's"?

Is it fair they hide in bushes to catch us?

I think NOT!

Just woke up here in lovely Eagle Bay with the sun rising beautiful over the blue waters.

But what did I remember when I woke up?

The strangest dream (and since I can never remember dreams it was pretty strange to me) that made me think about my sexuality and what it is like being a "lesbian".

So what happened in the dream?

Well I can only remember a few parts of it. The first part was me at a school for all girls. I had a best friend and we were in a swimming pool on lunch break. We were lying on our backs looking up at the roof (bloody indoor swimming pools...no sun...ack ack) and with our legs stretched apart we slowly crept closer together intertwining our bodies together not realising that we were surrounded by the rest of the class. The girls were ogling us but we were in our own little world we didn't stop what we were doing.

After that I was out of the pool and in the class room or maybe it was a theatre room (I don't know which) and us girls were put into groups of all sorts. I was walking around looking for a particular girl I wanted to get to know better so off I went on the hunt.

It took ages, I must of been walking around that room for hours on end or days even. Oh how it felt like a lifetime!

So anyway I finally bumped into the girl I wanted to talk too and I said to her in her ear "I have something to ask you which is very personal" She said "Sure, what is it?" and so the conversation went on...

I asked the question "Are you gay?" She replied shocked and annoyed and said "No, no I'm not" I frowned and walked away.

After that I woke up with a very dry and sore throat and stuffy nose.

******************************To you this dream probably doesn't seem unusual or strange But.........................

To me this dream was strange as I can never remember my dreams. All I can say is I wouldn't want to go to an all girl's school whether it be public or private. Walking around on campus not allowing to be yourself would kill me inside. I just couldn't do it.

What do you think this dream symbolises?
